PORTRAIT_TEXT Debbie Lavreys was born in 1980 in Mol, but lives and works in Hasselt (Belgium). She has always had a passion for drawing. It didn't take her long to realise she wanted to do something artistic in her later life. After first having studied 'Applied Visual Arts' in Hasselt, she remained in Hasselt to study 'Illustration and Design' at the PHLimburg.

Debbie has always dreamt of creating illustrations for children's books, and since the publishing of her debut children's book ''Moonstruck'' (Maanziek) in 2006, she is fulfilling her dream. She now works fulltime as a freelance graphic designer. She illustrated - amongst other things - a couple of books for toddlers and a series of fairy tales. You can find her books in Luxembourg, Portugal, Denmark, the UK, the USA, Canada and South-Korea.

Not only is she illustrating children's books, she is also busy with other creative projects, such as illustrating book covers, making realistic and educational illustrations, creating birth announcement cards, doing children's make up at events, designing jewelry, and giving creative workshops to children.
